India Vs India

First things first. A big hello to you all. And a even bigger new year wishes. Its been a long long time since we met on my blog. Apologies for people who missed it. Condolences for those followers who are no more. And congrats for those who managed to live another day to read this blog :).

Now a couple of things I would like to make very clear.
01. Its a promise. No India bashing. I guess I have done enough of that. May be will continue to do in future. But this time, the incredible India is spared. (oops, did just do a tweet little bash!)
02. No frustrated opinions. One of my good friends complained that some times my statements directly reflect my frustrations that are, supposedly, a consequence of my distorted perspective of modern India and a self-imposed but non-existing state of utter helplessness. Well, might be and so, point taken.

OK. To the actual business. Just when I was wondering what topic makes sense, I felt nothing better than the name of my blog itself. Many of you have asked regarding my intentions of choosing that name, a few of you have given your versions. So let me spill the secret. Spread the message. And strike the chord of enlightenment. Let me explain you why I chose that name. And here we go;
I am thirty-years old now and I have lived in India all along. The wiser say that with time one gains experience. With experience comes knowledge. Knowledge results in wisdom. And wisdom helps you to better understand your world and your existence. As paradoxial as it might sound, every sunset has only confused me further;

  • On one hand there is SoniaG who is advocating for woman's bill. On the other, we have maya memsaab's bashing parties and bills' garlands.
  • We have endlessly blamed Rudd and his contrymen for racial abuse againsts Indians. On the other hand, there are men in saffron who firmly (and physically) believe the bhaiyyas belong to the third world.
  • On one hand, and this is with utmost regards and high respect, woman vociferously talk about equality. Sadly, on the flip side, they fight for reservation.
The list is almost endless...
To my surprise though, I have myself taken sides of both the extremes at different times. When doing so, the split conscious of mine tend to lock horns with the other half, resutling in a highly disturbed rational and moral equilibrium. All these days, I had no option but to live with a compromised conscious, hoping that one day the horns would unlock themeselves. But then. I found a friend in blogsopt where I am at least e-free to express my broken opinions to the thoughtful minds who can help me to regain my sanity. That is how lockedhorns was born.

I am sure (and I will take this liberty to talk on behalf of most you you) that many of you, at some point or the other, would have gone through the same dilemma. But the question to be asked is whether this dilemma has grown into you masking your orginal opinions behind the well maligned, politically painted, and selectively ignorant thought process. I am scared that some day, none of us might care to voice our opinions. None of us would resist change for better. One day, all of us might look alike & be living in the ZoZoo land.

As always, I will not dare to conclude on anything. Instead, I will leave you with a wonderfully scary answer given by one of the mighty famous actors of the contemporary Indian cinema, to a question by a news channel host. The question was "Will you ever join politics?". And he promptly said "I wish that we (India) will never get into a situation where I am forced to join politics and fight for the common man and his rights. I will be the last person to enter politics. Also, there are enough people to take care of Indian politics. But, If that ever happens, then believe me, we will be fighing for our second independence."

Cia, Indresh

PS: Dont take my promises seriously :)
